Full Detail about a Stock Page (BSE)

If you have visited a stock page, you might be puzzled by so many numbers coming on the screen at once.

But don’t get fret, in this guide I will try to explain, with the help of an example what each of the column/row means for a particular stock.

  1. It can also be called Last Traded Price. Price at which last trade happened.
  2. Price at which last trade happened yesterday.
  3. First trade of today happened at this price.
  4. Highest price at which trade happpened today.
  5. Lowest price at which trade happened today.
  6. Volume weighted average price. Traded Price is weighed with Volume and average is taken which results in VWAP.
  7. Highest price in last 52 weeks at which it was traded.
  8. Lowest price in last 52 weeks at which it was traded.
  9. Maximum price it is be allowed to trade today. (This is a limit placed by SEBI, usually 5% or 20% of open price.)
  10. Similarly, Minimum price it is allowed to trade today.
  11. Average Quantity of shares traded in last 2 Weeks.
  12. Number of shares traded today. (Total Traded Quantity)
  13. Total money traded today for this stock.
  14. Market Capitalization. It is the worth of all the shares floating in the market. It is calculated by multiplying price of share with total quantity of shares in the market.
  15. Market Capitalization Free Float. Same as Market Capitalization but it excludes shares held by government, promoters or shares that are locked in.
  16. Face Value. It is the actual value of the stock on the certificate.
  17. Earning per Share. It is calculated as the company’s profit divided by the number of shares floating in the market. EPS indicates how much money a company makes for each share of its stock
  18. Cash EPS. It is calculated when we divide Operating Cash Flow of a company by number of shares floating in the market.
  19. Price-to-Earnings Ratio. It is calculated by dividing shares price with EPS. A high P/E ratio could mean that a company’s stock is over-valued, or else that investors are expecting high growth rates in the future.
  20. Price-to-Book ratio. There’s something called Book Value of a stock. PB ratio is Price of a stock divided by Book Value of the stock.
  21. Return on Equity.
  22. Category of share.
  23. Group of Stock. Exchanges such as NSE, BSE classifies stocks based on a number of factors like liquidity, size, etc.
  24. Which Index this stock is part of.
  25. Which Industry this stock belongs to.
  26. Buyer depth. Buyer Bids. Number of Shares and Price Buyers want to buy at.
  27. Seller depth. Seller Bids. Number of Shares and Price Sellers want to sell at.
